Pork Chop in Brown Gravy
Pork Chops in Brown Gravy is a comforting, classic dish. Here’s a simple yet flavorful recipe:
Ingredients:
- Bone-in or boneless pork chop
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp soy sauce (optional, for extra depth)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk (optional, for creamier gravy)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Mushroom for gravy
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pork Chops: Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper. Dredge them lightly in flour, shaking off any excess.
- Sear the Pork Chop: Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the onions and cook until soft and golden. Add garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn.
- Make the Gravy: Sear the mushrooms, then sprinkle about 2 tbsp of the leftover flour from dredging into the skillet with the onions and garlic, stirring to coat. Gradually whisk in the broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce (if used), ensuring no lumps. Simmer until the gravy starts to thicken.
- Return Pork Chops to the Pan: Add the pork chops back to the skillet. Lower the heat to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the pork chops are tender and fully cooked.
- Finish the Gravy: Stir in the heavy cream or milk if you prefer a creamier gravy, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Adjust salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite vegetables.
Enjoy your hearty pork chops in savory brown gravy!
