Pesto Sauce
Pesto Sauce is a fresh, fragrant Italian sauce made with basil, pine nuts, Parmesan, garlic, and olive oil. It’s incredibly versatile and easy to make! Here’s a classic recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- 1/3 cup pine nuts (can substitute walnuts for a different flavor)
- 2-3 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, and garlic.
- Blend the Sauce:
- Pulse a few times to chop the ingredients roughly. While the processor is running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Season and Adjust:
- Taste and season with salt and pepper. You can add more olive oil for a smoother consistency if desired.
- Serve:
- Toss with pasta, spread on sandwiches, or use as a sauce for grilled meats and veggies.
Store pesto in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze it in ice cube trays for easy portions!
