Guacamole

Guacamole

Guacamole is a classic Mexican dip made from ripe avocados and a few simple ingredients. It’s fresh, flavorful, and perfect as a dip with tortilla chips or as a topping for various dishes. Here’s a basic guacamole recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1 small jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1/4 cup (15 g) fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Avocados:
    • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
    • Mash the avocado with a fork to your desired level of smoothness—some prefer it chunky, while others like it smooth.
  2. Add Ingredients:
    • Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced tomato, and jalapeño (if using) to the mashed avocado.
    • Stir in the lime juice and chopped cilantro.
  3. Season:
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the lime juice and salt as needed for your preferred flavor.
  4. Mix:
    • Gently mix everything until well combined. Be careful not to over-mix if you prefer a chunkier texture.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or other dishes.
  6. Store (if needed):
    • If you need to store guacamole, place it in an airtight container. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to minimize browning. It’s best enjoyed fresh, but it can be refrigerated for up to 1-2 days.

Enjoy your guacamole! It’s a versatile and delicious dip that adds a burst of flavor to many dishes.
