Chocolate Banana Muffins
Chocolate Banana Muffins are a delightful treat combining the richness of chocolate with the natural sweetness and moisture of ripe bananas. Here’s a simple recipe to make them at home:
Ingredients:
For the Muffins:
- 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (50 g) packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (90 g) chocolate chips or chunks
For Optional Topping:
- Extra chocolate chips or chunks
- A sprinkle of sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prepare:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease the cups.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In another bowl, mix the melted butter, mashed bananas, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Combine:
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.
- Fill Muffin Tin:
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full. If desired, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips or chunks on top of each muffin, and a light sprinkle of sugar for extra crunch.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean or with just a few crumbs.
- Cool:
- Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving:
Enjoy these chocolate banana muffins warm or at room temperature. They’re perfect for breakfast, a snack, or a sweet treat with coffee or tea.
