Chicken Steak with Shallot Balsamic Sauce

Chicken Steak with Shallot and Balsamic Sauce Recipe

Chicken Steak with Shallot  Balsamic Sauce is a deliciously savory dish where the tangy sweetness of balsamic vinegar complements the rich flavor of caramelized shallots, creating a sauce that’s perfect for topping tender chicken. Here’s how to make it.

Chicken Steak Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Shallot Balsamic Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves or 1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  1. Pound the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts between sheets of plastic wrap and gently pound them with a meat mallet until they’re about 1/2-inch thick. This helps ensure even cooking.
  2. Season: Season both sides of the chicken with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.

Step 2: Make the Shallot Balsamic Sauce

  1. Sauté Shallots and Garlic: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until they soften and start to caramelize. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  2. Add Balsamic Vinegar and Broth: Pour in the balsamic vinegar, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits. Let the vinegar reduce for about 2-3 minutes, then add the chicken broth and thyme, if using. Allow the sauce to simmer for another 3-4 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  3. Season the Sauce: Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed.

Step 3: Serve

  1. Plate the Chicken: Place the cooked chicken steak on a serving plate.
  2. Pour Sauce Over Chicken: Generously spoon the shallot balsamic sauce over the chicken.
  3. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
