Guacamole
Guacamole is a classic Mexican dip made from ripe avocados and a few simple ingredients. It’s fresh, flavorful, and perfect as a dip with tortilla chips or as a topping for various dishes. Here’s a basic guacamole recipe:
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1 small jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped (optional, for heat)
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
- 1/4 cup (15 g) fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Avocados:
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
- Mash the avocado with a fork to your desired level of smoothness—some prefer it chunky, while others like it smooth.
- Add Ingredients:
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced tomato, and jalapeño (if using) to the mashed avocado.
- Stir in the lime juice and chopped cilantro.
- Season:
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the lime juice and salt as needed for your preferred flavor.
- Mix:
- Gently mix everything until well combined. Be careful not to over-mix if you prefer a chunkier texture.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or other dishes.
- Store (if needed):
- If you need to store guacamole, place it in an airtight container. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to minimize browning. It’s best enjoyed fresh, but it can be refrigerated for up to 1-2 days.
Enjoy your guacamole! It’s a versatile and delicious dip that adds a burst of flavor to many dishes.
